Spring is Here! A Time for Emergence & Change
I have a new window in my office that I look out of every day at work. Today is the first day of March, and as I look out my window, I am noticing that in three weeks, it is going to be spring!! I am so excited. The trees are beginning to unfurl their new leaves, the air is becoming slightly warmer, and I can hear the birds singing loudly. My thoughts have gone to all of the things that I like about spring. The smell of newly cut grass, putting my feet in the grass, going barefoot all the time, wearing shorts, being in the sun in my backyard, and seeing children outside playing. I also enjoy watching flowers burst with delight in the warm air.
Last week my boyfriend was walking the dog at night, and he found a small black bunny hopping around the neighborhood. He brought it home. To me, it represented the perfect omen of the wonderful fact of Spring being just around the corner. We kept the little guy for about 4 days. He hopped around delightfully through the house, and then we found a home with 4 lovely little girls who really wanted a bunny.
It’s New Years! What Shall I do?
It seems that the New Years Game is about changing habits. What is a habit? The dictionary says that a habit is “A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition.” To change a habit you must become conscious of what you are unconscious about. What is unconscious? Unconscious is described as “Lacking awareness and the capacity for sensory perception.” By its very nature the ability to change a habit seems difficult. What should I do?
The ancients knew that it would be necessary to associate this time of year with a symbol that is about habits. This is why I believe people tend to explore their outworn habits at the New Year. They also knew that the above questions could be answered through our awareness and understanding of people born during this time.
In astrology these people are known as Capricorns. Capricorns have been described as reliable, practical, ambitious, prudent, efficient, persistent, and patient. The planet that rules Capricorn is Saturn. Saturn symbolizes manifestation and limitation. We all have limitations. All of us. Locating and understanding our limitations is what Saturn helps us with. Saturn helps to strengthen the personality through endurance and persistence. Saturn has a contractive nature that gives us the opportunity for introspection and deepening our lives. It helps us to work out our evolutionary process and also our outworn habits. Saturn is associated with time. It is also over time that we develop habits.
In the Beginning, there was a Card… – Winter Issue 2000
Did you know that every day of the year is assigned to one of the 52 Cards in our playing card deck? Also, when you know what your card is, it can help you learn more about yourself, your relationships, and your destiny.
This article has two purposes. One is to introduce you to this fabulous system that I use in my practice which is called Birth Cards. The other is to help you understand how this links to the Ancient Practice of Astrology and you!
Our 52 Playing Card Deck originated many thousands of years ago. Some speculate that it originated in Atlantis since all major civilizations claim their invention.
Life Cycles and Clearing for the New Millennium
It happens about once a month. I go into a cleaning frenzy. It has to be a woman thing. A few days before my menstrual cycle I find myself a crazed madwoman. I clean all kinds of things. Maybe you know what I am talking about. Have you ever had this experience?
I don’t do this in a normal way. I get this gleam in my eyes and a total body surge to get the project accomplished. Literally, if anyone is in my way, they will be vacuumed or polished depending on what I am doing. It is a huge catharsis. When I am done, I feel purified and cleansed. It is glorious. I am healed. I know the Goddess is alive in me when I am done.
Maybe that is what this New Millennium is about. Starting fresh. New beginnings. Hope for Purification. Venturing into a new cycle.
Astrology, True Love and Relationships
Contrary to popular belief, true love doesn’t come from the outside of us. It begins and ends with ourselves. Throw away all the books that you have on how to “make a relationship work”, “keeping love alive,” and finding your “soulmate.” I know this may sound pretty radical. I absolutely love and enjoy these books, but that is not what this article is about. What you must know, and what this article is really about, is, when you are really serious about getting into and sustaining a committed relationship, you must have a relationship with yourself.
What are the first steps I must take?
Knowing your Families Astrology
I was incredibly blessed to be born into a large family. Knowing my families astrological charts has provided incredible insight and compassion for me (especially during the more difficult times.) With 3 brothers and 2 sisters, this was a large arena to learn in. Astrology has explained why we have all taken such different paths in our lives.
Often times in a consultation, a client will inquire about their husband, wife or child. I encourage these questions in readings because it is helpful to us to see how our families have affected, and are affecting our growth What a great place to start — your family!
Can you do a reading on a child? The interpretation of a child’s chart is basically the same as an adult. The goal is to make one conscious of their individual tendencies, strengths and weaknesses.
Astrology and The Cycle of Birth and Death
One of the most important things to a Woman is the relationship she has with her father. I thank my father daily for the tools that he has given me. They have helped me become the empowered woman I am today. He never once doubted my ability and always inspired me to reach the highest peaks that I could.
At the time of this writing, I am in San Diego, witnessing the unexpected hospitalization and critical care of my father. We have also been looking forward to the birth of a new nephew, Max, due on February 5th.
Many of my clients ask me if I can predict a time of birth or a time of death. Fortunately, there are cycles to help us prepare for these life events. In my opinion, prediction is impossible, given that we all have divine free will and choice. What is needed at the time of predicting cycles is an honest look at a person’s life, how they have lived it, and what has value and meaning to them.
Astrology and Money
Recently it was reported in Time Magazine that “the average female worker in America still earns just 76 cents for every dollar a man earns. An increase of 17 cents from the ‘70s.” It also reports that, “there are only two female CEOs at FORTUNE 500 companies, and just 10% of corporate officers are women.”
Let’s face it; it wasn’t until the 20s and 30s that women first began to leave their homes to join the work force. Women have been exploring the reality of having money in their lives for a very short while.
How do you feel about money? Feelings are a big part of our lives as women. A lot of our problems with money can be answered not by looking at dollars and cents but by looking at our attitudes and feelings.
Astrology and your Career
Woman are doing it all these days. Why? Because we can. Because we want to. Because it is part of our healing. We have families, jobs, careers, hobbies, exercise programs, relationships, friendships, group activities, charities organizations etc.. etc…etc. We want it all.
The other day I was watching an old Oscar-winning movie called, All About Eve. Essentially, this movie was made in the 1950’s when woman’s values were much different than they are today. In lieu of that, I found this one scene particularly intriguing. Bette Davis was reflecting on the careers of Woman. She says, and I am quoting, Funny business a woman’s career. The things you drop on your way up the ladder so you can move faster. You forget you’ll need them again when you get back to being a woman. It’s one career females all have in common whether we like it or not – is being a woman. Sooner or later we’ve got to work at it. No matter how many other careers we’ve had or wanted?
The Millennium and the Birth Process of the Feminine
Welcome to the last year of the Millennium – 1999! The beginning of the Aquarian Age, the Dawn of the Information Age, and the Age of Enlightenment. Technically, many astrologers feel the actual entry date of the Age of Aquarius will be when the planet Neptune goes into the sign of Pisces. This will happen in the year 2012. But look around. It is here!!!
In Astrology, each astrological sign has an association with specific concepts, things, people, and places. Aquarian concepts include; unconventional ideas, independence, originality, free will, freedom of self-expression, growth, and discoveries.
