Why We Need The Lazy Days of Summer!
"In the Summer, the days were long,
stretching into each other.
Out of school, everything was on pause,
and yet, it was happening at the same time,
This collection of weeks when anything was possible."
~Sarah Dessen
Make time for Self Mastery and Discovery!
Summer is here! Join me for "Summer Self-Improvement Goals!"
Warm weather, changing schedules, vacation, travel plans, and time off! I remember my childhood summers. They were long, slow days—no technology, just my imagination, piano, and sewing machine.
Summer is an opportunity to develop self-regulation and self-discovery that can lead to a more fulfilling life. The journey of self-improvement is not just about the destination but the transformation and growth you experience along the way.
Having a summer goal for "Summer Self-Improvement" is a fun way to look back and see that you have grown in your process of being all you can be.
I have gathered five inspirational ideas for a Summer of Self-Mastery and Discovery! These ideas range from physical activities to mental exercises to help you grow and learn more about yourself.
What better time to Work on Yourself than in the Summer! Pick one of these five ideas and let me know what happens.
Clear your home space. In preparation for the fall, pick any area of your home once a week and spend an hour cleaning, organizing, and clearing. This will help improve your mental space, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm.
For 24 hours, try not to judge or criticize anyone or anything. Look for the "upside" of things. Be grateful instead. If you find yourself criticizing, start over. It's harder than you think; it was for me!
Sleep! Yes, that glorious downtime activity keeps you from physical stress and burnout. If you have children, set a "quiet" time or "nap time" every afternoon to help them learn how to prioritize rest, too. Remember, rest is not a luxury; it's a necessity for a healthy and balanced life.
Get physical without a Goal! Go for a hike, swim, or take a sunset walk. Don't apply any goal to this; enjoy the beautiful and amazing gift of your body.
Sign up for a class! Take a music lesson! Try painting, yoga, Zumba, or rock climbing. Trying something new will help you release your fear of the unknown. Embracing vulnerability to learning something new will make learning a fun thing in the future. It's all about the joy of discovery!
Many of my clients receive a yearly consultation session during the Summer to prepare for the fall. Summer provides an easy learning experience and helps deepen the understanding of the process. They are more relaxed and feel the fun and joy of learning about themselves.
