Four of Hearts

The Four of Hearts focuses primarily on love, family, and relationships.  Relationships that are friendly, kind, and harmonious are essential to all hearts, but to the four of hearts, it is the foundation of their being.  They have a very strong, loving mother energy and are idealistic about the fulfillment that is possible within all their relationships, especially their families.

Many four of hearts work in the health and healing fields because many people come to them, and they hear the inner call to create a deep foundation of support.  This is a solid card, think of a chair with “four legs” and you will see that in all of the fours in the deck.  There is a strong sense of fairness and justice in this card, along with tolerance and understanding.

The four of hearts is also no exception to being a bit too smothering in their love and caring.  They respond highly to the desire to protect others, and the shadow of this can become too controlling or overly worried about their families and all their loved ones.  If you are a friend to a person who is a four of hearts, make sure to care for them too, to avoid their co-dependent resentment.

The other shadow to this card is the four of hearts, who has felt they have “over-given” and goes into blaming those they have given to.  If they do not have family in their lives, it is the deep co-dependent behavior that is linked to not creating a balance of “give” and “receive.”  If a disconnect occurs, they need to step back and engage in deeper healing work within themselves, healing themselves first, before moving toward others to create a more balanced and healthy relationship.

The Four of Hearts day is a day for deep spiritual work within your family dynamics.  If that is not available, focus on creating stability and love within yourself and your home.  Decorate, take a bath, nurture, and love yourself.  Self-parenting is ideal.  Begin by lavishing yourself with something you have thought was perhaps too “extravagant.” It's a lovely day to love yourself

Four Of Hearts Birthdays

October 31, November 29, December 27

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.

If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give it to no one, not even an animal.

Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements.

Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness.

But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change.

It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.

To love is to be vulnerable.”
