The New Moon in Libra & Venus Retrograde: What Are You Ready to Stop Carrying?
New Moon and
Venus Retrograde
On October 10, 2026, bring new Light to the World!
The New Moon in Libra on October 10, 2026 invites us into a quieter kind of beginning. New Moons are traditionally associated with intention, manifestation, and planting seeds for the future.
But perhaps this New Moon isn't asking us what we want to add to our lives. Perhaps it is asking us what we are finally ready to put down.
Libra is the sign of relationship, balance, harmony, fairness, and reciprocity. It teaches us how to meet another person halfway. Yet one of Libra's shadows can be the tendency to compromise too much—to maintain harmony at the expense of authenticity.
So this New Moon brings an important question:
Where have I been keeping the peace when what I really need is the truth?
Relationships as Mirrors
Relationships have an extraordinary ability to reveal who we are to ourselves.
We often think relationship problems are about the other person, but sometimes they illuminate the places where we have stopped listening to ourselves.
Where have we said yes when we wanted to say no? Where have we taken responsibility for someone else's happiness? Where have we remained silent because speaking honestly might create discomfort?
Healthy relationships require compromise, but compromise isn’t the same as self-abandonment. True Libra isn't about keeping everyone happy. It is about finding a balance where both people can exist fully.
Looking Beneath the Surface
Because Venus rules Libra, it plays an important role in understanding this New Moon.
With Venus moving retrograde through Scorpio, relationships may require deeper examination. Scorpio isn't particularly interested in appearances. It wants to know what is happening underneath them.
Old feelings may resurface. Past relationships may come to mind. Questions around trust, intimacy, loyalty, money, self-worth, and emotional honesty may become more noticeable.
But something returning from the past doesn't necessarily mean we are meant to return to it. Sometimes the past comes back simply so that we can see it differently.
We may finally understand why a relationship affected us so deeply—or recognize a pattern we have repeated without realizing it.
Awareness gives us the opportunity to choose differently.
The Wisdom of Enough
There is another message within this New Moon that feels especially important.
We live in a culture that constantly encourages us to become more—more successful, productive, accomplished, attractive, and certain.
Even relationships can become something we believe we need to perfect. But what if nothing needs to be fixed right now? What if the deeper work is recognizing what is already enough?
There comes a point when growth isn't about adding another layer to ourselves. Sometimes growth means letting go of the layers we accumulated while trying to become who others needed us to be.
The question changes from:
Who should I become?
to:
Who am I when I stop trying so hard to become someone?
Some Endings Are Quiet
Not every ending requires confrontation. Sometimes we simply recognize:
I'm finished with this.
There doesn't have to be anger. There doesn't have to be blame. There doesn't even have to be an explanation. We may simply realize that a relationship, obligation, expectation, belief or version of ourselves has completed its purpose.
And there can be tremendous peace in allowing something to be complete. Libra reminds us that peace isn't necessarily the absence of conflict.
Sometimes peace arrives after we finally tell ourselves the truth.
A Different Kind of New Moon Intention
Instead of asking only:
What do I want to manifest?
Perhaps this New Moon invites us to ask:
What am I finally ready to stop carrying?
What responsibility was never mine? What relationship pattern no longer reflects who I am?
Where am I giving because I genuinely want to give—and where am I giving because I fear disappointing someone? And perhaps the most important question:
If I didn't have to prove my worth to anyone, where would I put my energy?
The New Moon in Libra reminds us that balance isn't something we achieve once and keep forever. We continually renegotiate it as we change. And sometimes creating greater balance doesn't require doing more.
Sometimes it begins with gently putting something down.
“Peace isn't always found by avoiding conflict.
Sometimes peace begins when we finally stop abandoning ourselves to maintain it.”
