Halloween and Astrology Unveiling Mystical Connections!

Everyone loves Halloween.  I remember dressing up, running around the neighborhood, ringing doorbells with my five siblings, and opening my bag with a loud, "Trick or Treat!"  The excitement and thrill of the night, along with getting free candy, were highlights of my childhood.

Halloween, also known as Samhain, is a significant celebration in the pagan tradition.  It is a time of honoring and acknowledging the cycle of death and rebirth.   Samhain, also known as Sauin, is a Gaelic festival observed on November 1, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, or the "darker half" of the year. This tradition, with its roots in an ancient Celtic festival, is part of our shared history. Witches, goblins, skeletons, and ghosts are the primary themes that represent this long-held celebration.

This ancient Celtic festival was initiated in Irish culture to ward off or appease evil spirits. The village people would wear animal heads or skins.  They believed that the boundaries between the physical world and the spiritual realm were more permeable, and it was a time to celebrate the truth that all things are ephemeral, change being the only constant. The ancient tradition of Samhain, which evolved into Halloween, believed that the veil between the living and the spirit world thinned. 

This same concept resonates with astrology's focus on hidden realms and inner psychic development within the sign of Scorpio. 

Halloween falls within the sign of Scorpio.  Between October 23 and November 21 is considered a deep time of transformation and connection to the spiritual realm. 

Astrologically, this period is associated with the Scorpio Sun and Moon.  Scorpio symbols are connected to the cycle of death and rebirth, making it a time for introspection, shedding old patterns, and personal transformation. 

Scorpio energy embodies transformation and regeneration, finding power in confronting life's 'shadowy sides'. In astrology, these 'shadowy sides' refer to the deeper, more intense aspects of our personalities that we often keep hidden.

Learning to embrace the energy of Halloween and the transformative power of Scorpio, we learn to let go of what no longer serves us, making way for new beginnings, personal growth, and self-mastery.  

The energy of Scorpio embodies transformation and change, and the heightened spiritual energy during this time encourages introspection and a deeper connection to your inner transformative power.

Perhaps this is why we put on a "costume" to encourage seeing ourselves differently, inviting a playful way to change, or, subsequently, inviting or allowing ourselves to make choices about which shadowy character we would like to embrace and bring into our psyches.
